Kaup Beach Festival inaugurated with fanfare

Udupi, Dec 30,2012: The Kaup Beach Festival was off to a colourful start on December 29, Saturday. Rohith Kumar Kateel, international athlete inaugurated the sports events organised as part of the festival. The event was organised by Kaup Beach Friends in association with Tourism Department.

In his address,  Rohith Kumar said encouragement to sports talents was a must if the country has to scale greater heights in the sports arena.  Such events, he said go a long way in encouraging budding talents.

 

The food festival organised as part of the event was inaugurated by Rajya Sabha Member Oscar Fernandes .Suresh P Shetty Gurme, President of Beach Festival Committee, presided over the function.

Speaking on the occasion, Oscar Fernandes said he  would hold talks with the state government and the tourism department officials to ensure effective utilization of funds  meant for the overall development of Kaup beach. He also stated that beach festivals contribute a great deal towards  promoting tourism.

Former minister Vasanth Salian, KPCC Secretary MA Gafur,  Kaup Block Congress President Gangadhar Suvarna, Beach Fest committee Vice President Shekhar Salian, Beach Friends President Mohan D Putran and others were present.

The Sagarotsav organised the same night was inaugurated  by Kaup MLA Lalaji Mendon. MP Jayaprakash Hegde,  entrepreneur Ramesh Shetty Bairguttu, JD(S) District President Deviprasad Shetty were present.

Several achievers including Vishwanath Shetty Moodbidri, Bhasker Kotian, Gurucharan, Srinagar Kitti, film star,  Ajay Warrior, Prakashchandra Shetty and Suresh Prabhu were felicitated on the occasion.

Over 15000 people took part in the celebrations.
