Kasargod : Pregnant woman among 3 killed in auto-KSRTC bus collision

Kasargod, April 4, 2013 : A pregnant woman who was suffering from labour pains met a tragic end in a road accident involving an autorickshaw and a KSRTC bus, while she was being taken to the hospital for delivery. The accident took place on the NH near Kumble Railway station at around 9.30 am on April 4, Thursday. Three others sustained serious injuries in the mishap.
The deceased is Babitha (24), daughter of Sunder of Paivalike Kayarkatte. Her mother Janaki(48), husband Rama (35), autorickshaw driver Harris(27) were seriously injured in the accident.
They were on way to the General Hospital at Kasargod when the KSRTC bus heading towards Mangalore from Kasargod, collided against the autorickshaw killing Babitha. The auto was badly mangled due to the impact of the collision.
Babitha is learnt to have breathed her last while being taken to hospital. Traffic on the NH was disrupted for some time owing to the accident.
