Kasaragod, Sep 4, 2026: An 11-year-old boy died in a tragic incident after a rope tied to a flagpole accidentally became entangled around his neck while he was playing in front of an anganwadi at Kanjipoyil near Madikai in Kasaragod on Thursday evening.

The deceased has been identified as Aneek, son of Rajesh and Neethu. Aneek was a Class 5 student at a school in Kanjipoyil and was playing on the premises of Nandanakuzhi Anganwadi when the incident occurred.

Boy death


The incident reportedly took place around 5 pm when Aneek was playing in front of the anganwadi. The rope tied to the flagpole allegedly became caught around his neck and tightened.

An autorickshaw driver travelling along the road noticed the boy and immediately freed him from the rope. Aneek was rushed to a hospital in Kanhangad, but he died before reaching the hospital.

It is suspected that the tragedy occurred after the rope accidentally became entangled around the boy’s neck and tightened while he was playing.

Local police have registered a case and launched an investigation into the incident.
