Journalist Balepuni bags Sarojini Naidu National Award 2011

Mangalore, Sep 16: Guruvappa T. N. Balepuni, the renowned senior journalist, has bagged the Sarojini Naidu National Award 2011 for his report on rural development titled “Idkiddu Gram Panchayat – A Living Example of Rural Development” published in Hosa Digantha on June 14, 2011.
This award, instituted by Hunger Project, comprises a trophy and Rs. 2 lakh and will be conferred on Mr. Balepuni at a special awards ceremony, scheduled to be held in New Delhi on Oct 2.
Balepuni is the first Kannada journalist to receive a national-level award.
About Balepuni
Balepuni who began working as a journalist in 1986 worked for several Kannada media firms in DK before joining Hosa Digantha 15 years back.
Today he is the senior correspondent of Hosa Digantha and is especially interested in the Panchayat Raj system and in rural development.
