JD(S) minorities unit organizes protest against RSS leader’s provocative speech

Mangalore Today News Network

Mangalore, Jan 25, 2012: The minorities unit of the District JD(S) organized a protest against the provocative speech delivered by RSS leader Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat on the occasion of the Hindu Samajotsava held on January 22 Sunday at Uppinangady, in front of the DC’s office on Jan 25 Wednesday.

Delivering his protest address, M. G. Hegde, the spokesman for JD(S), said that students from other parts of India are reluctant to come to DK because it has obtained a reputation as a communally explosive area. He sarcastically stated that the fall of DK’s image as an educational and cultural hub will not affect Dr. Bhat, who receives funds for disturbing communal peace from politicians all over the state. But the businessmen and educational institutions of DK will suffer the most, he added.

Stating that the RSS is directly responsible for the founding of the Karnataka Forum for Dignity (KFD) in the state, he said that former CM B. S. Yeddyurappa has successfully destroyed the BJP and the party has no more chances of coming to power in Karnataka.

Severely criticizing Dr. Bhat’s habit of disturbing communal harmony, he accused Dr. Bhat of being directly responsible for the arrest of several people. He also demanded the immediate arrest of Dr. Bhat.

Stating that India is a country of multiple religions, he said that religious matters must be kept private and not dragged out into the street.

JD(S) leaders Sudarshan Shetty, Yogesh Shetty Jeppu, Deviprasad Shetty, Habib Khader, Azeez Malar, and others were also present.
