Inter-faith leaders show solidarity at Moodbidri peace meet

 Moodbidri, Oct 5, 2013 :   Leaders of various committees  who participated in a  peace meeting  convened at the Samaja Mandir here on October 4, Friday, opposed in one voice the attempt to disrupt communal harmony in the town recently over the issue of a clash between a Muslim student and an advocate.

The meeting was held   under the leadership of Circle Inspector Anantha Padmanabha. It may be recalled here that tension prevailed in the town recently  after  advocate Shanthi Prasad Hegde fired in the air and reportedly assaulted a student Tanveer Ahmed after the former’s car brushed past the latter.

Addressing the meeting, Abdul Rehman, President of Kendra Jumma Masjid, Moodbidri said the incident was unintentional and that  everything was sorted out amicably. Still some external forces tried to blow up the issue, he regretted.

DA Usman, President of  Todar Jamath. Abdul latif, businessman. Hasadulla Ismail, Rotary Club President, KP Jagadish Adhikari, BJP leader and others spoke.

Circle  Inspector Anantha Padmanbha urged people  of Moodbidri to continue the tradition of peace and harmony by putting an end to all confusion. Sub-Inspector Ramesh Kumar and others were present.
