Mangalore, Jun 5, 2012 : Denis D’Silva, international federation of Karnataka Christian Associations (IFKCA), and the family of Gerald Veigas, the Mescom lineman who died of electrocution while on duty, submitted a memorandum to Vijayanarasimha, managing director of Mescom, at the Mescom office on June 4, Monday.
Mr. Veigas was checking faulty lines in Vamanjoor when he died of electrocution. According to the IFKCA and Mr. Veigas’ family, a section officer forced him to work in Vamajoor although he was supposed to be on duty in Kavoor.
Mr. Vijayanarasimha accepted the memorandum and said that Mescom’s higher authorities will investigate the matter.
Mr. D’ Silva said that the IFKCA will launch intense protests if the Mescom fails to give justice to the Mr. Veigas’ family and give them proper compensation.
Zeena Veigas, wife of Gerald, Jeston and Jameson, his children, and Jacintha and Oswald, his relatives, along with many well-wishers were also present.
