’I have requested the Governor to convene the special session on October 11 to face the trial of strength", he told the media after arriving at Bajpe airport. Yeddyurappa also expressed confidence of proving the majority enjoyed by his government.

He had left Mangalore by a special flight at 8.35 am on Thursday to Kannur. On his return, CM will participate in local programme at Kannur and return to Bangalore by afternoon. Karnataka Chief Minister, B S Yeddyurappa, who is facing the worst crisis of his political career, will be paying obeisance to god to save his seat. He is scheduled to visit Lord Rajarajeshwara temple in Taliparamba in Kannur near here on Thursday October 7.

It may be recalled that Yeddyurappa had donated a baby elephant to the temple, towards fulfilling a vow he had undertaken before the 2008 assembly election in the state. This incident had been blown out of proportions when protests against Yeddyurappa were organized in Kerala, alleging that he had violated provisions of Wild Life Act.

Troubles grew for Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa with a group of about 20 MLAs including ministers raising a banner of revolt Tuesday in a fresh bout of dissidence, even as opposition Congress and JD(S) tried to corner him over a series of land scam allegations.

The dissident activity by a section of the ruling BJP came on a day when Governor H R Bhardwaj submitted a report to President Pratibha Patil on alleged irregularities in payment of compensation to land owners by Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board(KIADB).
