Home for GSB senior citizens to be inaugurated in city

Mangalore, Feb 29, 2012: Kumble Narasimha Prabhu, the secretary of the Shri Samsthan Gokarn Parthgali Jeevotham Mutt committee, said that Shri Vidhyadhiraja Teertha Swamiji of the above-mentioned mutt will inaugurate a home for active GSB senior citizens called Poornaprajna Vasathi Nilaya, located behind Gokarna Mutt, Car Street on March 3 Saturday at 10:20 a.m. 

Addressing reporters at a press conference held at Press Club today, he said that this home is the first of its kind established by the mutt for the GSB community.

Shrinivas Dempo, the chairman of Dempo Group of Industries, located in Goa, will be chief guest of this event, he said.

He also informed that any GSB citizen aged above 60 can enter the home, which will become functional from May 1, 2012. 

Around Rs. 5 crore was spent in constructing this home, he said. 

The home is well-equipped with all the required facilities and comprises 60 well-furnished single and double rooms, a stand-by generator, power and water supply, reticulated gas supply, canteen facility, community hall, 24-hour security, medical assistance, and association with KMC Attavar. The staff is to comprise a warden and a manager, along with security guards. 

The mutt has already received 20 applications. Interested senior citizens are required to pay a refundable deposit.

Mr. Prabhu said that the Swamiji will arrive on March 1 Thursday at 7:00 p.m. and will be given a poorna kumbha welcome. He will be taken in a colorful procession from Swadeshi Stores to Gokarna Mutt. He will leave Mangalore on March 4, he added. 

Architect Chethan Kamath and PRO Basti Purushottam Shetty were also present at the press conference.
