Mangalore, August 27, 2012: The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and the Bajarang Dal organized a massive protest against violence in Assam and other North East Indian states on August 27, Monday in front of the DC’s office.
The activists held saffron flags and shouted slogans against illegal immigrants from Bangladesh. Expressing concern over the exodus of North East Indian students and employees from several cities across Karnataka, they also raised their voices against violence in Mumbai and Pune.

Speaking on the occasion, Bajrang Dal Convener Sharan Pumpwell said that the problem is because of tension between local communities, who are the real citizens of India, and illegal immigrants from Bangladesh.
Addressing the gathering, VHP leader Manojaram Tulajaram said that the government must take effective steps against illegal immigration from Bangladesh, detect illegal immigrants spread all over the country, delete their names from electoral lists, and deport them back to their own country. He also demanded the immediate preparation of the National Register of Citizens.
He also stated that the pro Hindu outfits will help and protect the people of Assam and North East India.
The two organizations had called for a 12-hour bundh in Assam, as part of which they had organized this protest.
