Mangaluru, May 15, 2024: GAIL Gas Limited (GGL), the 100% owned subsidiary of GAIL (India) Ltd., a Maharatna PSU, signed bulk domestic Piped Natural Gas Agreement with The National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK) for all its Faculty and Staff Quarters inside its campus in Surathkal.
The Agreement was signed by Prof. B Ravi Director NITK Surathkal and Sh. Sai Sankar B GM (CGD) Project & Head GAIL Gas Mangalore in August presence of Sh. Sudhir Kumar Dixit CEO GAIL Mangalore Petrochemicals Limited (GMPL). Other dignitaries present in the ceremony were Dr. K V Gangadharan Dean (P&D) and Prof. Mech. Engg., Prof. Udaya Bhat K. Metallurgical and Materials Engg., Dr. Gangadhar Mahesh Ass. Dean (Planning) and other team members from NITK side and Sh. Dharmendra Kumar Senior Manager Marketing GAIL Gas.
This pact will enable GAIL Gas to connect all residential quarters of NITK Surathkal with smart fuel of PNG which is Economical, Easy to use & Eco-friendly fuel available at their doorsteps.
The National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK), Surathkal is an Institute of National importance incorporated through Act of Parliament (2007) and a CFTI under Ministry of Education, Government of India and is striving to make its campus smart with uninterrupted PNG supply to its campus.
GAIL Gas is regularly creating awareness amongst the residents of Mangalore City and other areas of Dakshina Kannada district about the benefits of Piped Natural Gas (PNG) over conventional fuels like Economical, Convenient, Safe, Environment friendly and 24x7 uninterrupted Supply etc.
GAIL Gas is steadfast in its commitment to enhancing the CGD Network in next 8 years, with plans to connect 3,50,000 households in Dakshina Kannada district to benefit its residents with the safe and accessible PNG fuel in longer span of time. The initial phase will witness PNG connectivity in areas such as Surathkal, Mukka, Mulki, Kulai and Bondel, with plans for expansion into other residential regions. Further, it has plan to establish 100 CNG stations by year 2030 across the district to strengthen the supply network of the green energy and will facilitate the district residents with refilling of the vehicles with CNG.
