Mangalore, June 10, 2013 : The Congress Government in Karnataka will not allow fundamentalist and communal forces to flourish in the state. Some such elements even tried to stop me, but I defeated them, said B Ramanatha Rai, State Minister for Forest, Ecology and Environment and DK District in-charge Minister.
He was speaking at an interactive session between the elected representatives and people arranged by the Karnataka Komu Sauharda Vedike at the St Aloysius College Auditorium on June 9, Sunday to coincide with a thanksgiving programme to the electorate for defeating the BJP in the elections.
Gowri Lankesh, Editor of Gowri Lankesh Weekly said communalism has been completely buried in the coastal district following the defeat of the BJP.
Oscar Fernandes, Rajya Sabha Member, Vinaykumar Sorake, State Minister for Urban Development, JR Lobo, Shakuntala Shetty, Legislators also participated in an interactive session.
M Venkataswamy, Chudamani Bangera, and Prof K Phaniraj were amongst those present on the occasion.
