Mangalore, Dec 1, 2011The medical education unit of Fr. Muller Medical College (FMMC) and South Asian Cochrane Network will jointly organize an introductory workshop titled “Evidence – Informed Health Care” with Dr. Prathap Tharayan, the director of South Asian Cochrane Network and Centre, as the resource person.
Speaking about the event at a press conference held at FMMC on Dec 1 Thursday, Dr. J. P. Alva, the dean of FMMC, said that the Cochrane Collaboration, which was launched in 1993, is an international network of over 28,000 members from 100 countries. They provide a common platform for policy makers, healthcare providers, patients, advocates, and others and helps them make informed health care choices. This is done through the preparation, publication, and promotion of Cochrane Reviews. More than 4,600 Cochrane Reviews are now available online at the Cochrane Library, he said.
Medical Education Unit Convener Dr. Smitha Bhat was also present at the press conference.
