Drugs laced chocolates case: Accused Manohar Shet apologizes for ‘Car festival’ remarks

Mangaluru, July 24, 2023: Manohar Shet, a shopkeeper at Carstreet who has been booked after police seized chocolates laced with drugs from his shop recently, has today appeared before the media and apologized as well as expressed regret for a statement that he made that there was a custom of consuming bhang during the Car festival at Carstreet.

Speaking to media persons on July 24, Monday, Shet said when police raided the shop on July 18 he made the statement that bhang was consumed during car festival and Okuli.

He said there was no such tradition in Hinduism and also regretted for speaking lowly about Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev.

 He said he has undergone a brain surgery and was ill and without knowledge had issued statement. He also requested the community members, temple committee and devotees to pardon him.

Manohar Shet’s relative Manoj Nayak who was also present at the press meet, claimed that Manohar was diagnosed with brain tumour and had undergone surgery and that the family was sending him to the shop for two hours so that he feels relaxed.

He also said the police can take suitable action once the FSL reports are out regarding the chocolates that have been seized.

Manohar Shet’s brother Prakash Shet was also present.
