Mangaluru, Oct 29, 2025: Nagraj Bajal, an environmentally conscious youth from Mangaluru known for his creative cleanliness campaigns under the “Swachha Mangaluru” initiative, has launched yet another unique movement — “Hasiru Nadige: Every Step Towards Cleanliness.”

As part of the campaign, Nagraj is undertaking a 300-km walk from Karwar to Mangaluru, carrying a placard reading “Don’t Litter, Manage Waste.” Through this padayatra, he aims to spread awareness about cleanliness among people in coastal villages and towns along the route.

In addition to promoting waste management among local bodies and the public, the campaign also seeks to identify successful waste management models in different regions and explore ways to replicate them elsewhere.

The Hasiru Nadige campaign was flagged off on October 27 by Uttara Kannada Deputy Commissioner Dr. Lakshmi Priya. After interacting with Swachh Bharat Mission officials at the Zilla Panchayat office, Nagraj began his journey from Karwar via Gokarna, reaching Kumta on October 28. He plans to reach Mangaluru by November 3, covering Honnavar and Udupi en route.

“The amount of plastic waste flowing into the sea from the coastal region is increasing day by day, mainly due to poor solid waste management. To address this, I am interacting with panchayats, educational institutions, religious centres, and the public to learn and share effective waste management practices,” said Nagraj Bajal.
