Inaugurating the event, Veerendra Heggade, Pattadhikari of Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala, commended the Shourya volunteers for their exemplary service during natural disasters and emergencies in Dakshina Kannada over the past five years.

Addressing the gathering, Mr. Heggade encouraged volunteers to approach life’s challenges with confidence and to continue aiding disaster victims as their saviors. “Serving victims during disasters is akin to serving God,” he said, urging volunteers to prioritize their own safety while engaged in relief operations.

Senior NDRF officer Shantilal Jatiya lauded the Shourya team’s dedication, expressing hope for similar volunteer teams nationwide. “With coordinated efforts from volunteer teams, disaster relief operations can be carried out more effectively. It is commendable that the government recognizes the contribution of Shourya volunteers,” he remarked.

During the event, individual volunteers Ravindra from Ujire, Avinash from Arasinamakki, Dinesh Shetty from Naravi, and Savita Pereira were felicitated for their contributions. The Shourya teams from Shishila-Arasinamakki and Madanthyar units were honored for their outstanding performance.

The program highlighted the significance of community-based disaster management initiatives and emphasized the need for continued skill development in mitigating emergencies.
