Regarding the delays in completing the Mangalore to Bangalore Shiradi Ghat stretch, he said that it has been delayed needlessly because of the central government’s non-cooperation. He said that the state government will now release the funds, which can later be reimbursed by the central government. The work will be completed by April 2012, he promised.

He also said that potholes will be filled by the PWD by December, adding that the ZP in DK and Udupi have enough funds to provide drinking water and that people will not have to suffer water shortage in February, March, and April.

Further, he said that a 110-KW power line will be set up in Sullia within one month and that 3 – 4 surveyors will be appointed for this purposes. Vacant posts in various Escoms will be soon filled, he added. Steps will also be taken to solve the problem of scarcity of medicine in both districts.

Regarding the students’ dislike of bisibelebath, which is provided for the mid-day meal in primary schools, he said that steps will be taken to replace it with rice and rasam.

He also said that steps have been taken to beef up security during Advani’s Ratha Yathra when it arrives at Mangalore and Udupi.

He also urged the MCC to focus on developmental work, adding that, since the mayor and the district-in-charge minister have demanded funds for road repair, the government will release funds immediately.

MLAs Raghupathi Bhat and Yogish Bhat, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, and District-in-charge Minister Krishna Palemar, along with many others, were also present.
