Depositing of arms at police stations ; DC exempts farmers from rule

Mangaluru, Apr 03, 2023: Deputy Commissioner Ravi Kumar M R has exempted farmers who have availed gun license to protect their crops from wild animals, from  depositing their weapons at the nearest police station or arms dealers, in the wake of the upcoming Assembly election.

 

The Deputy Commissioner has issued an order to this effect. It may be recalled here that the tahsildars of various taluks had drawn the attention of the Deputy Commissioner towards the request made by the farmers having gun license to exempt them from the rule as it would cause inconvenience to them.

At the same time the Deputy Commissioner said there is no relaxation in the rule for those who have gun license for self-protection purposes and added that as per rule they have to hand over the arms to the nearest police station or dealer.
