Dead body found on railway tracks, police suspect murder

Mangalore, Jul 20, 2012: The dead body of Shivaraj (22), a car mechanic working in a showroon in Kuntikana, was found near the railway track at Kodikere in Thokur on the morning of July 20, Friday.

Police suspect that he has been murdered. According to the preliminary investigation report, he may have been strangled with a rope. The body also bears marks of injuries. Police suspect that he was murdered at some other place and then dumped on the railway track.

 

Investigation has revealed that Shivaraj was murdered on the night of July 19, Thursday. Police suspect that his murderers used him as a bait to get hold of two other people accused of murdering rowdy Kabir.

Reportedly, Shivaraj was in the showroom till 10:30 p.m. on Thursday, after which a few people arrived in a Maruthi Omni and took him away saying that they wanted him to repair another car. Before going with them, however, he went home on his bike, gave his wallet to his mother, and then went with the men in the Omni.

The men took him to a deserted place and told him to call two of his friends who are accused of murdering rowdy Kabir on Feb 25, 2011. Rowdy Kabir was one of the main accused in the murders of Sukhanand Shetty and Polali Ananthu. Although Shivaraj was not accused of murdering anyone, his friends were suspected to have murdered rowdy Kabir. The kidnappers allegedly killed him when he refused to call his friends.

A member of Jokatte GP found the body on the railway track at 11:00 a.m. on Friday.

The Panambur police are now investigating the case. The body will soon be sent to Wenlock Hospital for post mortem.
