DK schools, PU colleges to hold extra weekend classes to cover rain holidays

Mangalore Today News Network

Mangaluru, Aug 23, 2025: The Dakshina Kannada Deputy Director of Public Instruction (Administration), Shashidhar, has instructed schools across the district to conduct extra classes on Saturdays and upcoming holidays to compensate for the teaching days lost due to heavy rains.

Weekend classes begin in DK to make up rain holiday

This year, government, aided, and unaided primary and high schools in the district had to declare seven holidays because of incessant rains. Additionally, tahsildars in Mangaluru, Mulki, Moodbidri, Bantwal, Ullal, and other taluks announced further holidays as a precautionary measure.

To make up for the lost teaching days, schools have been directed to hold classes on Saturday afternoons and during other holidays. The directive also applies to PU colleges, which must conduct sessions on weekends and holidays to cover the syllabus missed during rain holidays.
