Udupi, Dec 16, 2011: Shankar Bidari, the DG-IGP of Karnataka Police, who visited DK for the first time after taking over, met top police officers in the chamber of the Superintendent of Police today, shortly after meeting the Anti Naxal Force (ANF) at Karkala.
Bidari told reporters that he will do everything in his power to eliminate underworld elements in the coastal areas during his term. He also said that security will be beefed up in the district’s hilly regions to curb the Naxals.
He also said that he will pay monthly visits to districts across Karnataka to supervise the condition of law and order in these areas. He expressed his appreciation of the district police for successfully cracking the Sulaiman murder case in Karkala.
He then distributed cash awards among policemen involved in solving major crimes. The police team responsible for nabbing the murderers of Sulaiman received Rs. 20,000.
IGP Prathap Reddy (western range), ADGP (internal security) Harshavardhana Raj, Udupi SP Dr. Ravikumar Y. S., and many other officers were also present.
