Mangalore/ Udupi, May 14: DC Subodh Yadav, who was appointed as the DC of DK district seven months back in place of V. Ponnuraj, has been transferred to the Karnataka State Textile Department in Bangalore. DC Chennappa Gowda, who is currently the DC of Chikmagalur, has been appointed as the new DC of DK.
Subodh Yadav, an honest and strict officer, was reportedly unwilling to dance to the tunes of certain influential politicians in the district. He had cracked down heavily on the sand mafia and had displeased the private bus lobby by preventing it from hiking private bus fare. Mr. Yadav is now on holiday at his house in Lucknow and is expected to present his responsibilities to the new DC on May 17.
Chennappa Gowda, the new DC of Mangalore, is quite familiar with the coastal city as he had served as the commissioner of the Mangalore Development Board.
Hemalatha, the DC of Udupi, has also been transferred to Bangalore and has been given the post of director of the Karnataka Horticulture Department. The new DC of Udupi will be Dr. M. T. Raju. Originally from Kerala, Dr. Raju belongs to the IAS 2005 batch. He is currently the assistant deputy commissioner in Tarikeri and has been appointed as the DC of a district for the first time.
