Cops raid gambling den at Pumpwell; arrest 30, seize Rs 1.8 lakh cash

Mangalore, Sep 25, 2013: A gambling den at Pumpwell in Mangalore was raided by a police team led by Panambur ACP Ravikumar and CCB Inspector Venkatesh Prasanna on September 24, Tuesday evening. As many as 30 persons who were engaged in gambling at the place were arrested. Police have also seized a cash of Rs 1,80,570 from them. Playing cards were also found.

It was following a tip off that the police raided the gambling den which had no name. There is information that the police department plans to launch a crack down on all such illegal gambling centres that are operating in the city.

The City Crime Branch is conducting the investigations. Ravish Naik, Inspector in Kankanady rural police station and several others were part of the raiding team.
