Congress to stage protests against state’s power problems

Mangalore, Oct 18, 2011 : Ramanath Rai told reporters at a press meet held on Oct 17 Monday that the DK District Congress will stage a protest against the power problems in the state in front of the DC’s office on Oct 20. The party will also organize protests in front of the TP offices across the district, he added.

Stating that the state government had promised 24-hour power supply while coming to power, he demanded to know why the government had failed to keep its promise. He also criticized the government for blaming previous governments for the state’s power problems. He opined that the BJP, which is almost on the verge of completing its 5-year term in power, had enough time to solve the power problem.

Voicing his opinion regarding the arrest of B. S. Yeddyurappa, the former CM, he said that the BJP still considers Yeddyurappa innocent although the Lokayukta has submitted a report against him. The Congress, unlike the BJP, has never and will never justify corruption, he declared.

MLA U. T. Khader, Youth Congress President Mithu Rai, KPCC Secretary Ivan D’Souza, and others were also present at the press conference.
