Mangalore, Oct 5:  Labeling the recent arrest of Bangalore City Corporator Katta Jagadish Naidu, the son of Katta Subrahmanya Naidu, the minister for housing and IT/BT, by the Lokayukta police for alleged involvement for corrupt activities as “shameful,” Congress leader Suresh Ballal said that the BJP-led state government should commit suicide instead of facing such as situation.

Mr. Ballal was delivering a protest speech in front of the DC’s office on Oct 5, Tuesday. Further speaking about the Naidu issue, he said that a lot of land has been registered in the name of Naidu’s wife and son. Ballal said that the BJP members are involved in making as much money as possible because they are unsure of attaining power during the next term.

Senior Congress President Sadananda Poojary said that the BJP, which had promised the people a corruption-free government, has now turned out to be the most corrupt government in the state’s history. He stated that the BJP-led state government is the worst of all governments and that people can never expect anything good from it.
M. G. Hegde, the spokesperson for the Congress, said that the BJP should establish new branches for corruption, land scams, and various other fraudulent activities its members are involved in. He also added that the BJP could not lodge any complaint against Congress ministers during their tenure because there was hardly any corruption during that time.

Recalling a stray incident of a Congress minister caught for corruption, he said that that minister was removed from his post within 24 hours and was also removed from the Congress party. He said that the state government is not taking any action against Katta Jagadish Naidu because everybody in the BJP government is corrupt. Alleging that the BJP has borrowed RSS policies, he said that it is satisfying its thirst for power and wealth by involving in corrupt practices.

Abdul Naufal, the NSUI president of Mangalore University, burned an effigy of Katta Subrahmanya Naidu.

Congress leader Ivan D’Souza welcomed the gathering and Praveenchandra Alva proposed the vote of thanks. Members of the Congress party such as Kripa Alva, Victoria D’Cunha, Padmanabha Naringana, Kodijal Ibrahim, Mamatha Gatty, Farooq Ullal, T. K. Sudhir, and Shashidhar Hegde also participated in the protest meet.
