Demand for Kedige leaves is quite high at present because they are used to prepare a special steamed dish. These leaves are collected from far and wide, soaked for 5 – 6 hours, and then weaved into moulds. These moulds are then used to prepare the special dish.

Flowers are also in high demand these days, and no vendor is in the mood to bargain as they are sure that they can sell flowers at any exorbitant rate this festive season.

Krishna Janmashtami is celebrated in commemoration of the birth of Lord Krishna, an avatar of Vishnu, on the eighth day of the dark fortnight of Shravan.

Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated in commemoration of the birth of Lord Ganesh, the god of wisdom, good luck, and prosperity. A number of Sarvajanika Ganeshotsav Samithis are organizing Ganeshothsavs all over India and people take part in these celebrations irrespective of caste, community, religion, and culture.
