Mangalore, Jan 3, 2012 :The Central Labour Commission (CLC) raided the house of O. Palayya, the deputy conservator of forests at Lalbhag, and rescued a child labourer on Jan 3 Tuesday.

The rescued child is Renuka, the daughter of Basavaraj and Ratnamma of Hubli. The child, who has studied up to Std. III, came to Mangalore with her parents. She received a monthly salary of Rs. 600 for cleaning the house.

Acting on a tip, CLC officials U. S. Deshpande, H. P. Jnanesh, and Krishnamma raided the officer’s residence and found the child there.

Renuka will be taken to the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) and medical tests will be done on her to verify her age.

According to the CLC officers, a case will be registered against Renuka’s employers if she is found to be 14 or below.
