Mangaluru, November 29, 2024: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will inaugurate a two-day multicultural festival in Mangaluru on December 3.

Talking to reporters on Thursday, Dakshina Kananda Deputy Commissioner M.P. Mullai Muhilan said the festival will be the fourth event being conducted by the State Government in commemoration of 50 years of Karnataka’s formation.

The festival will be conducted jointly by the Karnataka Tulu, Beary, Konkani, Arebhashe, Kodava, Yakshagana and Sangeeta Mattu Nrutya Academies, in association with Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, and Madikeri administrations and the Department of Kannada and Culture.

Apart from cultural programmes by troupes from the seven academies, there will be exhibition of books, paintings and sculptures. There will also be ‘Aahara Utsava’ (food festival) in which the cuisine of Dakshina Kannda, Udupi and Madikeri will be showcased.

In a students’ conclave on December 4, there will be interaction with president of Kannada Development Authority Purushottama Bilimale on ‘multicultural heritage of Karnataka’ at 9.30 a.m.

Speaker U.T. Khader will inaugurate a multi-cultural procession from Ambedkar Circle to Town Hall at 9 a.m. on December 3. The inauguration of the festival will be at Town Hall at 11 a.m. on the same day.

Deputy Chief Minister D.K.Shivakumar and Health and Family Welfare Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao will participate in the programme, Mr. Muhilan said.
