Mangalore, Dec 28,2012 : “ It is a matter of great shame that a journalist has been behind bars since 50 days just  because he reported the incident of assault on young boys and girls by a Sangh Parivar organization,” said MA Baby, CPI(M) Polit Bureau Member.

He was speaking to presspersons after meeting  Kasturi Channel reporter Naveen Soorinje who is behind bars in the homestay attack case and is presently undergoing treatment for chickenpox at the prisoner’s block at Wenlock Hospital in Mangalore on December 27, Thursday.

Baby said the arrest of Naveen  reminded one of the emergency situation. He solely blamed the government for the arrest of Naveen which he said was a blatant violation of Freedom of Press. The CPI(M) strongly condemns such incidents, he added.

Commenting on the controversy over Made Snana and Pankthi Bedha practices in temples, the CPI(M) Polit Bureau Member said  all these rituals were practiced just to separate Dalits from others and urged the government to ban such practices.
