The police had arrested the owner on Thursday night and was produced before the court on Friday.

Deputy Commissioner Subodh Yadav has already sent a detailed report on the bonded labourers to the state government on Friday.

It may be recalled that a Bangalore based NGO International Justice Mission (IJM) with the help from Dakshina Kannada district administration and police raided a quarry and rescued 39 ‘bonded labourers’ in Vittal, about 50 kms from here, on Wednesday.

Of the 39 labourers, 11 were men, 11 women and 17 were children. Five labourers were rescued on Thursday.

The government has been recommended to rehabilitate the labourers, said Assistant Commissioner Prabhulinga Kavalikatti. dhns
