Mangalore, Dec 5, 2013 : Popular Bollywood comedian Johny Lever has donned the grease paint for a Tulu movie for the very first time. The comedian was in Mangalore on December 4, Wednesday for the shooting of the Tulu movie ‘Rang’ produced by Devadas Pandeshwar under the banner of Kateeleshwari Combines.
Dance sequences of the flm were shot on Wednesday. The film directed by Vismaya Vinayak and Suhan has Arjun Kapikad and Deekshitha in the lead roles. Some sequences of the film were shot at Sahyadri college premises at Adyar.
Johny Lever who began speaking in Tulu said though he hails from Andhra, he has neither acted in a film in his mother tongue nor in any other language other than Hindi. “But now I have donned the grease paint for a Tulu movie just because I love Tulu,” said Johny Lever.
He recalled his association with Tulu through a programme held at Town Hall here in the year 1979 He said he was immensely pleased to act in a Tulu movie.
“People mostly prefer to see me in a comedy look and I will continue that way,” he said. He did not forget to thank the producer of the film for giving him an opportunity in a Tulu film.
Directors Vismaya Vinayak and Suhan said the film cast also includes Devadas Kapikad, Naveen Padil and other comedy stars of the region. They said the film revolves around an engineering student and village life.
Producer Devadas Pandeshwar, Prameela Dev,lead pair Arjun Kapikad, Deekshitha Acharya and others were present.
