Belthangady: Naxal leader Rupesh PR produced before court, sent back to Kerala jail

Belthangady, July 24, 2025: Prominent Naxal leader Rupesh P.R. (57) was produced before the Belthangady court and later sent back to a jail in Kerala after the completion of his police custody.

Rupesh was brought from a Kerala jail on July 22 under a body warrant and was taken into the custody of Belthangady police for three days in connection with a gunfire incident that occurred on December 10, 2012, in Mittabagilu village, Bolle area of Belthangady taluk.

During the custody period, police carried out an on-site investigation and recorded statements related to the case. On July 24, after his police custody ended, he was presented before the court under tight security led by Bantwal DySP Vijay Prasad. Following the court proceedings, he was taken back to the Kerala jail.
