Beltangady: Teacher dies by suicide at mother’s home

Beltangady, July 14, 2025: In a tragic incident, a 32-year-old married woman working as a teacher allegedly died by suicide at her mother’s home in Koyyur village, Beltangady taluk.

The deceased has been identified as Ramya, daughter of Devappa Bangera from Darkhas in Koyyur. She is believed to have ended her life by hanging in one of the rooms of the house on the afternoon of July 13.

Ramya, who had been married for two years to Lathish of Padadka in Koyyur, was employed as a teacher at a school in Beltangady.

According to sources, she had been facing health-related issues and had returned to her mother’s house. It is suspected that ongoing distress over her health may have driven her to take the extreme step.

Revenue department officials, including inspector Pratheesh, along with personnel from Beltangady police station, visited the scene.

A case has been registered at the Beltangady police station, and further investigation is in progress.
