Balepuni of Hosa Digantha bags Sarojini Naidu Award

Mangalore, Oct. 3, 2011: The Sarojini Naidu Award was conferred on N. T. Balepuni, the senior reporter of Hosa Digantha, for his excellent report on the subjects of women and Panchayat Raj, in the presence of Union Rural Development Minister Jairam Ramesh, at a special awards ceremony organized by Hunger Project on the premises of Habitat Centre.

Speaking on the occasion, the minister said that while people are very particular about cleanliness at the personal level, they are least bothered about public hygiene.

English reporter Adithi Bhadhuri and Hindi reporter Narjeesh Hussain also received awards on the occasion. Each award comprised a cheque for Rs. 2 lakh and a memento.

Mallika Sarabai conferred the Sarojini Naidu Award on Balepuni. Besides Jairam Ramesh, Hunger Project President Rita Serin was also present.
