Bajpe: Youth arrested for posting derogatory remarks against police on social media

Bajpe, December 19, 2025: The police have arrested a youth on charges of posting derogatory and insulting remarks against the Bajpe police on social media.

The arrested accused has been identified as Abhishek M. (23), a resident of Katipalla, Surathkal, police said.

According to the complaint, the accused used a photograph of Nisarga Hotel in Bajpe and posted it on an Instagram page named mr_a_titude 22. In the post, he allegedly claimed that the accused in a murder case reported under the Bajpe police station limits were being given “royal hospitality” by the Bajpe police, including daily beef meals from Nisarga Hotel. The post further alleged that the police, instead of protecting the public, were siding with criminals and misusing their authority, thereby bringing disrepute to the police department and eroding public trust.

Based on the complaint, Bajpe police registered a case and arrested Abhishek.

Police also stated that Abhishek has multiple criminal cases registered against him, including cases of murder (Fazil murder case of Mangalapete), attempt to murder and assault at the Surathkal police station limits, and robbery cases registered at the Kapu police station.

After his arrest, the accused was handed over to the CEN police for further investigation and later produced before the court, police added.
