Mangalore, June 4, 2012: Addressing reporters at a press conference held at Hotel Woodlands on June 4, Monday, Bantwal MLA B. Ramanath Rai said that the BJP has never shown any interest in the development of the graduates’ constituency.
Urging voters to vote in favor of S. P. Dinesh and Hosur Ramesh, the Congress candidates for the graduates’ constituency, he said that if the Congress wins, it will establish 15 universities for women. He said that the public must vote in favor of candidates who can bring changes.
Speaking on the occasion, S. P. Dinesh said that he will start “graduate bhavanas” in every district if he is voted to power. These bhavanas can be used to train candidates for various competitive exams and will have free computers and other facilities for the poor. It will also help poor, but talented young people to get placed in good companies. The bhavans will also have official websites, enabling young people to apply online, he added.
Further, he said that teachers are facing a wide range of problems for the past 30 – 40 years, and the BJP has done nothing for them. He also said that the BJP did not sanction any fund for schools or colleges unless they were associated with the RSS.
Voicing his opinion of the JD(S), Dinesh said that JD(S) candidates recently gave false statistics related to number of graduates and voters.
Hosur Ramesh Joyappa, candidate for the legislative council elections from the south west teachers’ constituency, said that the state government has done nothing for the schools and colleges of the state. Even programs such as Nali Kali were implemented by the central government, he pointed out.
Several Congress leaders such as T. K. Sudhir, MLA U. T. Khader, Ivan D’Souza, Moideen Bava, former MLA Vijay Kumar Shetty, Mithun Rai, and many others were present.
