Arrest after three decades: Accused in 1992 illegal petrol transport case nabbed in Vitla

Vitla, May 12, 2026: Vitla police have finally succeeded in arresting an accused who had allegedly evaded the police for more than three decades in connection with an illegal petrol transportation case.

The arrested accused has been identified as Siddique, a resident of Manjeshwar in Kasaragod.

On October 14, 1992, Siddique and another Manjeshwar resident, Ibrahim, were caught while illegally transporting petrol in a car. A serious case was registered against them at the Vitla Police Station under the Petroleum Act.

Although the case later came up before the court, accused Siddique failed to appear for the trial and had been absconding ever since.
