Accused absconding abroad for two years arrested at Mangaluru Airport

Mangaluru, Feb 26, 2026: An accused who had been evading court proceedings for nearly two years by staying abroad has been arrested at Mangaluru International Airport by Vitla police.
The arrested individual has been identified as Ibrahim Bathees, a resident of Kanyana in Bantwal.
He was taken into custody on February 24 while returning from abroad. Acting in coordination with the immigration authorities at Mangaluru International Airport, the Vitla Police Station head constable and a police constable apprehended him at the airport and produced him before the court.
The court has remanded the accused to judicial custody until March 7.
A case (Crime No. 193/2019) had been registered against him at Vitla Police Station under Sections 427, 504, 394, and 341 of the IPC, along with Section 2(A) of the Prevention of Destruction and Loss of Property Act.
