Belthangady, July 6,2017: A government grant of Rs 50 lakh has been granted to start-up East Agro Robotics Private Limited. This is the first start-up from the district to receive government grant.
This company is manufacturing a machine that operates like a drone and helps farmer spray insecticides to arecanut trees. The company is founded by Lakshmish Rao from Nidle and Avinash Rao, former students of SDM Engineering College of Dharwad. They have been assisted by Chethana and MIT Assistant Professor Kamalesh Kumar.
The founders of the start-up demonstrated the drone like machine manufactured by them in the presence of Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari Dr D Veerendra Heggade, CAMPCO Chief Satishchandra and All India Arecanut Growers’ Association President Srinivas Achar. Even CPCRI Director Chowdappa has appreciated the initiative of the youngsters.
The product is likely to be launched by April next year. East Agro Robotics also plans to set up an industrial unit at Barangaya in Nidle near Dharmasthala.
