99th birth anniversary of senior writer Kayyara Kinhanna Rai to be celebrated on June 8

Mangalore, June 5, 2013: The 99th birth anniversary celebration of freedom fighter and senior writer Kayyara Kinyanna Rai will be celebrated on June 8, said Shivaram Kasargod  of Karavali Sanskrithika Prathishtana, Kasargod.

Speaking at the press meet held at Press Club on June 5, Wednesday, he said that Kayyara Kinyanna Rai  has been ceaselessly striving to prevail upon the government to implement the recommendations of  Mahajan Commission report  in order to find a final solution for the longstanding border problem. Shivaram Kasargod also recalled the yeoman contributions of Rai towards the development of Kannada language.

He said that the 99th birthday celebration and the birth centenary  celebration will be inaugurated at Kavitha Kuteera, Peradala of Badiadka on June 8 at 10 am. The event will be jointly organized by Karavali Sanskrithika Prathishtana, Kasargod and Nadoja Kayyara Kinyanna Rai 99 felicitation committee.

Kannada protagonist Vatal Nagaraj will inaugurate the event, while former Kannada Sahitya Parishat president Harikrishna Punaroor will preside over the event.

Former union minister B Janardhana Poojary, State Ministers  Vinay Kumar Sorake, U T Khader, B Ramanatha Rai, Abhayachandra Jain and others will participate in the event.

As a part of centenary celebration, the committee will prepare a 100 point agenda to be implemented by the Departments of Kannada of various schools, colleges and universities in different states.

Felicitation Committee Honorary President Harikrishna Punaroor, Madhukar Rai, M J Rao and  Bhuvan Prasad Hegde were present at the press meet.
