Mangaluru, May 5, 2025: A total of 8,776 of the 9,065 students from Dakshina Kannada wrote the National Elgibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET), for admission to undergraduate medical courses, in 16 goverment and aided institutions of Mangaluru on Sunday.
As per official figures, 8776 students wrote while 289 students were absent for the examination. The NEET, this year, was held in pre-COVID format under which students had to answer all the 180 questions. For each correct answer there was four marks. For wrong answer one mark will be deducted. The exam was held offline, using OMR sheets, for three hour duration will be three hours.
A lecturer from a private PU college in Mangaluru, who did not want to be named, said students found around 45 questions in physics section tough. Answers for the 90 questions in Biology segment were lengthy. The 45 questions in chemistry were easy.
Chairman of Expert Group of Institutions Narendra Nayak said the NEET paper this year was the best he has seen in the last three years. “This combination of tough and lengthy questions makes this paper an ideal one for a screening test. Those who have prepared sincerely will make a mark this year,” he said.
