Mangalore, Jan 2, 2012: Shri Dharmapalanath Swamiji of Adhichunchanagiri Samsthan Mutt in Kavoor announced at a press meet held at BGS School in Kavoor today that the 68th birth anniversary of Shri Dr. Balagangadharnath Swamiji will be celebrated at the Abhiman Greelans Layout behind BGS School on Jan 28 Saturday.
Revealing further details, he said that the BGS Hostel will be inaugurated at 11:00 a.m. and that the foundation stone laying ceremony for the new BGS PU College, costing Rs. 3 crore, will be also be held on the occasion.
He also said that all schools that had achieved cent percent results in each taluk will be presented books worth Rs. 10,000. Beneficiaries will also receive cycles for the handicapped, an electric stick for the blind, and ear machines for the deaf. The trust will organize a number of cultural events on Jan 27 – 28, he added.
Speaking on the occasion, Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat, the RSS chief, said that a Shri Bhairaveshwara Jyothiratha will also form part of the event. A torch bearing religious significance will be taken from Adhichunchanagiri on Jan 26 and will pass through Hassan, Sakleshpur, and Dharmasthala before halting at Uppinangady. On Jan 27, the torch will be carried through Puttur, Mani, and Kalladka, before reaching Mangalore at 4:30 p.m. More than 50,000 devotees are expected to participate in the event, he added.
MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, Padmanabha Kottary, Shrikar Prabhu, R. Shantha, and others were also present.
