Siddaramaiah asks Bengaluru Police to take back his ’zero traffic’ protocol

Mangalore Today News Network

Bengaluru, May 21, 2023: Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Sunday told the Bengaluru Police to do away with the ’Zero Traffic’ policy. He said he took the step after looking at problems faced by people travelling along the stretch where this protocol is in place.

Taking to Twitter, Siddaramaiah wrote, "I have asked Bengaluru City Police Commissioner to take back the ’Zero Traffic’ protocol for my vehicular movement. I have taken the decision after seeing the problems faced by the people travelling along the stretch where there are restrictions due to zero traffic."

Under the zero traffic policy, the chief minister and other VIPs have special traffic arrangements to avoid congestion during their travel in Bengaluru. Siddaramaiah took oath of office on Saturday (May 20), along with DK Shivakumar as deputy CM, and eight cabinet ministers. Siddaramaiah chaired his first cabinet meeting on Saturday.

In the past, former Karnataka CM Basavaraj Bommai and former Karnataka home minister Araga Jnanendra had also denied the Zero Traffic protocol.
