RSS Route March Denied in Chittapur Over Law and Order Concerns

Mangalore Today News Network

BENGALURU, Oct 19, 2025: Authorities in Chittapur, Karnataka, have denied permission for the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh’s (RSS) proposed route march and Vijayadashami programme scheduled for Sunday, citing potential law and order issues.

According to officials, the RSS had sought permission to hold a taluk-level procession as part of its centenary and Vijayadashami celebrations. However, police reports warned that the Bhim Army and the Bharatiya Dalit Panther (R) Sangh had also applied to hold rallies along the same route, raising fears of possible clashes.

RSS Route March Denied in Chittapur

Tensions in Chittapur were already heightened after an RSS activist allegedly issued threats to Minister Priyank Kharge. Earlier, the installation of saffron flags and banners for the RSS event had also triggered controversy, prompting authorities to remove them due to lack of permission.

The state government on Saturday issued new restrictions requiring prior approval for marches or rallies by any group exceeding 10 members on public property.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah clarified that the move was not targeted at any particular organisation but urged people to remain vigilant against the RSS and its affiliates, accusing them of opposing Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s Constitution.

Meanwhile, BJP state president Vijayendra Yediyurappa criticised the Congress government, comparing its actions to the authoritarian rule of North Korea’s Kim Jong Un and alleging an “Emergency-like” atmosphere in Chittapur.
