In Chilling Video, UP Don Shoots at Bottle on Businessman’s Head

Ambedkar Nagar, Uttar Pradesh, July 16, 2015:  In a chilling video, apparently shot on a mobile phone, a bottle is placed on the head of an elderly man, as another man in a green T shirt takes aim at it with a gun and misses.

 

The man with a gun remarks that he missed; he also compliments the terrified older man for the way he balances the bottle. "Put a bottle on his head, I want to try out my aim," he is heard saying and then turns to the elderly man and says, "If I miss, you are finished."

In another portion of the video, he is seen raining blows with a whip on the older man.

The grainy video, shot in poor light, is not from the sets of a Bollywood gangster film. It was shot while a Khan Mubarak, allegedly a local don, tortured a businessman, Bazu Khan, in the Ambedkar Nagar district of eastern Uttar Pradesh (UP).

The video was allegedly shot at Khan Mubarak’s behest in February this year; he had accused Bazu Khan of insulting him. At one point, the businessman touches his feet begging that he be allowed to go.  

Hours after Bazu Khan was set free, he died of a heart attack, says his brother Ansar. "We didn’t file a complaint because we are scared of them," he said.

The police say they can only register a case if the family asks them to. "If the family files a complaint or if some other information comes to light, we will take action," said senior policeman Pankaj Kumar. 

Khan Mubarak and his brother Zafar Supari have many criminal cases registered against them in UP and also in Mumbai. The police allege that they once worked with the infamous Chhota Rajan gang.

Khan Mubarak was arrested later this year in a gang war case and is in jail.

Rival parties allege that Khan Mubarak is close to a leader of the Samajwadi Party, which rules UP.
