New Delhi, Mar 31, 2023: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal condemned the decision of the Gujarat High Court, which directed him to pay Rs 25,000 costs for seeking information on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s educational qualification under the Right to Information (RTI) Act.

Sharing an article of a news portal on the judgment of the Gujarat High Court, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) wrote on Twitter, "Doesn’t the country (people) even have the right to know how much their PM has read? He vehemently opposed showing the degree in the court. Why? And those who demand to see their degree will be fined? What is this happening?"

Kejriwal went on to say that an illiterate or less educated PM is very dangerous for the country.

The Gujarat High Court on Friday quashed the Chief Information Commissioner (CIC)’s 2016 order directing Gujarat University to provide information on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s MA degree, under the Right to Information (RTI) Act.

It also directed the Delhi CM to deposit Rs 25,000 cost with the Gujarat State Legal Services Authority.

Taking exception to the alleged misuse of RTI, the Gujarat University had challenged the CIC’s order to make PM Modi’s MA degree available to Arvind Kejriwal.
