Woman dies as hill caves in on house at Nandavara; daughter rescued

Bantwal, July 07, 2023: In a tragic incident, a woman lost her life when a hill near their house caved in and huge mounds of soil fell over their house at Nandavara in Sajipamunnur village of Bantwal taluk during the early hours of July 7, Friday.

The deceased is Zarina (47), wife of Muhammad. Zarina’s daughter Safa (20) has been rescued. Incessant rains since the past few days led to this tragedy. Both the mother and daughter were under huge mounds of soil and the rescue team managed to get both of them out. However Zarina had breathed her last by then. Safa has been hospitalized.

Fire service personnel and locals assisted in the rescue operation.
