Kasargod, Jun 9, 2013: The 99th birth day celebrations of the renowned writer, poet, freedom fighter and Kannada activist Kayyara Kinhanna Rai was celebrated at his residence Kavitha Kuteera, Peradala in Badiadka on June 8, Saturday. The function was held under the joint aegis of Karavali Sanskritika Pratishtana and the Kayyara Kinhanna Rai 99 Felicitation Committee.
Karnataka Minister for Health and Family Welfare UT Khader who was the chief guest of the occasion, said a function would also be organized at Mangalore to honour the great personality. He said he would place forth the demand of Kannadigas to confer Karnataka Ratna and National award to Kayyara, at the state assembly. Khader also urged the people to emulate the noble qualities of Kayyara and described him as a great source of strength for Kasargod Kannadigas
The function was earlier inaugurated by Kannada activist and former MLA Vatal Nagaraj. On this occasion, Vatal Nagaraj urged the government of Karnataka to develop Kavitha Kuteera at a cost of Rs one crore.
Karnataka Forest Minister felicitated Kayyara Kinhanna Rai on the occasion. Pradeep Kumar Kalkura, former president of Kannada Sahitya Parishat, presided over the function.
Responding to the felicitation conferred on him Kayyara Kinhanna Rai said he will work for the unification of Kasargod with Karnataka until his last breath and hoped he will be there to see the unification of Kasargod with Karnataka.
Kerala Tulu Academy President B Subbayya Rai, Karavali Sanskritika Prastishtana President Shivaram Kasargod and several others were present.
The birth centenary celebrations of Kayyara Kinhanna Rai were kickstarted on the occasion.
