Vayalar Ravi promises to prioritize Mangalore Airport issues

Mangalore, Oct 3, 2011 : Speaking at the inaugural ceremony of the Mangalore Dasara celebrations at Lord Gokarnanatha Temple Kudroli, Union Civil Aviation Minister Vayalar Ravi said that he will complete the formalities related to getting the status of international airport for Mangalore Airport at the earliest possible.

Referring to a memorandum presented to him by B. Janardhan Poojary, the former union minister, he said that one of the demands made by Poojary is to give maximum compensation to families of the victims of the Mangalore plane crash. He said that some cases are still in court, while the government is still dealing with the issue.

 

 

 

 

 

Speaking on the occasion, Janardhan Poojary said that the Kudroli Gokarnanatha Temple, which lives according to the principles of Narayan Guru, is not only a centre of faith, but also a centre of peace, devotion, and harmony.

The chief guests of the event were Jaya C. Suvarna, the president of Billavar Federation; Urmila Ramesh, the managing director of Hotel Deepa Comforts; and K. P. Nanjundi, the president of the Akhila Karnataka Vishwakarma Mahasabha. 

 

Plane crash victims’ families meet Vayalar Ravi

A delegation comprising members of the Mangalore Air Crash Victims’ Families Association approached Union Civil Aviation Minister Vayalar Ravi on Oct 2 Sunday. Mr. Ravi had arrived in the city to initiate the Mangalore Dasara celebrations at Kudroli Gokarnanath Temple.

Informing the delegation that he has been doing his best to see that the victims’ families are amply compensated, he invited the association office bearers to attend a discussion on the issue at New Delhi.

The minister also said that AI is going to be rejuvenated soon, adding that a new chairman has already been appointed and a board of directors will soon be appointed.
