Union Minister Pallam Raju assures to consider demands of Mangalore University

Mangalore, Jan 5, 2013 : Pallam Raju, Union Minister for Human Resource Development visited Mangalore University on January 4, Friday and   held discussions on the various developmental works initiated in the University with  the officials concerned.

The Minister was accorded a warm welcome by Vice Chancellor Prof. TC Shivashankeramurthi.  During the meeting, the Vice Chancellor   drew the attention of the   Minister towards the several problems confronting the University including shortage of teaching staff and lack of funds to appoint guest lecturers.


He also placed forth a demand to allocate grants to Universities in The Central Budget so that the government universities can  face the competition of private universities including deemed universities. He also urged for release of funds considering the standard of education maintained by the university and its achievements over the years.


The minister assured to consider the demands and said the co-operation of the state government was needed as far as appointment of teaching staff was concerned.


 The minister was felicitated on the occasion on behalf of the University.Prof. K Chinnappa Gowda, Registrar, B Ramanatha Rai, DCC President, Vijaykumar Shetty, former MLA, PV Mohan, MA Gafur, Manjunath Bhandari and others were present.
